The big story: Lea Salonga has become the first Filipino to receive a star on the Hollywood

Walk of Fame, adding another historic first to her 45-year career.

By the numbers: Salonga received the 2,855th star on September 4 under the Live Performance category, placed in front of Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre.

Why it matters: Salonga has spent decades breaking barriers. She was the first Filipino to win both a Tony and Laurence Olivier Award for Miss Saigon, and later became a Disney Legend after singing for Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan.

Philippine inflation slowed to 6.1% in August from 6.2% in July, marking the fourth straight month of easing. Lower food, electricity, and utility price increases drove the slowdown, although year-to-date inflation remained at 5.2%, still above the BSP's 2% to 4% target range.
